Use the form above to search for pages on this site containing specific words or combinations of words. The text search engine will insert a weighted list of matching documents just above this paragraph.

Each list item (hit) is a link to a page containing matching text, with the best matches shown first. If the page has a title, it will be shown; otherwise only the page's file name is displayed.

Once on a matching page, use your browser's Find command to drill down on your target. In Internet Explorer, for example, you'll find the "Find (on this page)..." command under the Edit menu, but it's readily invoked with the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+F.

See below for a brief explanation of the query language, with examples and a few searching tips.

Query Language Reference

The text search engine allows queries to be formed from arbitrary Boolean expressions containing the keywords AND, OR, and NOT, and grouped with parentheses. For example:

tele or lens
finds all site documents containing 'tele' or 'lens', separately or together
tele lens
same as above (spaces are treated as ORs)
tele and lens
finds all site documents containing both 'tele' and 'lens'
tele not macro
finds all site documents with no 'macro' containing 'tele'
(lens not macro) and tele
finds all site documents containing 'tele' along with all those without 'macro' containing 'lens'
tele*
finds all site documents containing words starting with 'tele', like 'teleconverter', 'telephoto' and 'telephone'

On Final Approach

If a hit link provided fails to take you directly to the spot on the target page, use your browser's "Find" function to close in on your quarry. See, for example, the "Find (on This Page)" command on Internet Explorer's Edit menu; Ctrl+F is the keyboard shortcut.

Searching for phrases

Unfortunately, searching for phrases exclusive of component words doesn't seem to be possible with this Microsoft FrontPage Extensions search engine. If you know a workaround, please e-mail me at the address below.

Hyphens

This search engine treats hyphens as ORs.
